MY STORY

Quafff was born James Ongige on the 4 September 2003, in Nairobi, Kenya to Gladys Moraa, a business woman and Willy Ongige, a musician. He grew up in Kangemi, Nairobi and was raised Catholic attending New Kihumbuini Primary School and Nduru Boys' High School in Kisii, Kenya.

Quafff's journey in music began during his high school days, where he eagerly immersed himself in rap battles, singing competitions, and talent showcases. Adopting the moniker 'Rapking,' he showcased his lyrical prowess by organizing impromptu rap battles during lunch breaks and evenings, captivating audiences with his electrifying performances and competing against fellow schoolmates. He officially launched his music career as 'Rapking' with his debut single 'Outta 23' in 2019,  under the production of PBS (Blackjac Music) and with the creative vision of director Deejay Moni, showcasing his talent beyond the stage.

In the same year, he co-founded the gengetone group 'Wamunyota Gang', debuting with their single 'Tupa Lugha'. However, Quafff's artistic aspirations led him to pursue a solo path, departing from the group to carve his own musical journey. Amidst personal challenges, he embraced change, transitioning from his former stage name, Rapking, to Quafff. Determined to persevere, he collaborated with Gashu Official and M.K on a track  released in April 2021, marking a new chapter in his evolving career.
